obituary

Diane C., 82, of Santa Rosa, Calif., a renowned travel writer and journalist died in her sleep peacefully and naturally while napping on her front porch swing Friday afternoon.

Diane began traveling with her military family at a very young age and spent nine years of her childhood in Okinawa, Japan.

Traveling and writing had always been two interest of Diane’s; she seemed to do both whenever she had the time and money. She published her first book by the age of 25, just after graduating from college in Honolulu, HI.

Diane was picked up by Lonely Planet Co. and spent over 20 years writing for them before turning to free lance work. Throughout the years she wrote many books, memoirs, and articles.

Although she never changed her last name, Diane married her one true love, Jack, whom she met at the San Fran Intl Airport. The two eloped only months after knowing each other, but remained together until his death only less than a year ago.

She is survived by her daughters Olivia and Harper, her son Jennings, and her younger brother Robert.

A mass will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. at Diane’s home at 186 Barn St., Santa Rosa. She will then be buried under her favorite tree outside her home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, Calif., where they will have all of Diane’s pieces featured.

...i suppose if i could choose the way my life would go it would be something like that. seems nice, anyway.
